2020 LA RATA

The 2020 La Rata sourced fruit from the Armada, En Cerise and La Paciencia Vineyards. The blend is 53% Grenache, 37% Cabernet-Sauvignon and 10% Syrah. 165 cases produced.

"96 Points A blend of 53% Grenache, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Syrah that was aged for 21 months in neutral French oak reveals a glimmering medium ruby hue with a blueish rim. Aromas of charred meat and game pair perfectly with the flavors of crushed strawberries, black cherry, wet forest floor, purple potpourri, and tobacco leaf. With time, it becomes more and more interesting as it evolves on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, with rounded fine tannins, and a splendid finish, this will age well for the next 10 years or more. Only 166 cases were produced. Highly recommended.” —Jeremy Young, International Wine Report

"95 Points Checking in as 53% Grenache, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Syrah, the 2020 La Rata reveals a semi-opaque ruby hue as well as a gorgeous perfume or redcurrants, wild strawberries, iron, rose petals, and leafy herbs. It has classic Rocks complexity, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and a great finish, all making for a brilliant 2020 that will evolve for 10-15 years.” —Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com

"95 Points The gorgeous 2020 La Rata combines 53% Grenache with 37% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Syrah. This shows serious range on the nose from Nori and charcuterie notes alongside green olives and tobacco leaf with boysenberry fruit coming in after some more air. The palate comes off fresh and polished with a bright level of minerality and a silky texture. Coming off clean this is a gorgeous effort that is drinking beautifully right now. Just give this a little bit of air if you are enjoying now and watch this stunner evolve. Drink 2023-2028.” —Owen Bargreen, owenbargreen.com
