2013 LA RATA

The 2013 La Rata sourced fruit from the Armada and En Cerise Vineyards. The blend is 60 percent Grenache and 40 percent Cabernet-Sauvignon. 115 cases produced.

"93 Points. 2013 Walla Walla La Rata (60% Grenache and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon) ...lots of strawberry, cherry blossom, savory herbs and dried flowers. The Cabernet, however, shows more on the palate and the wine is medium to full-bodied, has present, yet polished tannin and lots of minerality on the finish. It should drink nicely through 2023." —Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate

"93 Points. Polished, texturally compelling and layered with cherry, orange peel and fresh herb notes, coming together seamlessly and lingering on the expressive finish. Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2021. 115 cases made." —Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator

"93 Points Editor’s Choice. This wine from Cayuse Vineyards assistant vigneron Elizabeth Bourcier offers aromas of flowers, smoked salt, and crushed strawberry followed by a palate full of elegant savory flavors." —Sean Sullivan, Wine Enthusiast

"95 Points. This absolutely incredible wine is made by Elizabeth Bourcier, Cayuse’s assistant vigneronne, who was first inspired by Clos Erasmus, and wanted to combine Armada Vineyard Grenache with En Cerise Vineyard Cabernet. The resultant 60% Grenache and 40% Cabernet red blend is completely stunning. As the wine slowly develops in the glass, it begins to release intense aromatics of red cherries and red raspberries woven together with smoke, wet stone and rose petal accents. There are exotic flavors of ripe raspberries, cherry cola and wet stones with undertones of orange rind and lavender. This multidimensional wine possesses a round, voluptuous texture which is impossible to resist. It continues to impress with gorgeous underlying minerality and remarkable balance as it heads into the long, persistent finish. The novelty of this wine is apparent as there is really nothing else like it in Washington. (Best 2016-2028) - August, 2016" —Owen Bargreen, International Wine Report
