"97 Points, A stunning, one-of-a-kind wine made in 2021, this edition of La Rata is a mesmerizing combination of 60% Grenache with 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Syrah ... red floral character on the nose and also shows plenty of smoldering stones, alongside green olive tapenade, menthol, cured meats and suggestions of white pepper dusted bacon. The palate is silky smooth and refined in terms of texture. Showing beautiful length, flavor density and weight ... The purity of red fruits, alongside stony and salty tones really makes this tick. Enjoy now and over the next ten years to come." –Owen Bargreen, owenbargreen.com
"96 Points, Editors’ Choice, I smell a rat and it's glorious. La Rata's aromatic set induces hunger pangs with aromas of a roasted turkey sandwich dressed with boysenberry relish, accented by sage and thyme. Flavor-wise, the Grenache-driven La Rata offers a none more black mix of blackberries, black tea and black pepper, with zippy acidity." —Michael Alberty, Wine Enthusiast
"95 Points, … Darker raspberries, ground pepper, smoked game, pepper, and fresh rose petal notes all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a supple, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. As with all the wines from Elizabeth Bourcier, it's more about complexity and elegance than power." —Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com
"95 Points, The 2021 La Rata gifts a lovely blue-ruby core with a shimmering neon red rim in the glass. Bright red cherry and black raspberry aromas start things off, followed by shades of earthy herbs, dried flowers, and smooches of white grapefruit zest. Lovely tannins coat the mouth while the perfected levels of acidity finish things off." —Jeremy Young, International Wine Report
"94 Points, … The aromas are brooding, with notes of strawberry, brown stem, fresh and dried herb, and cherry, showing more overt fruit than wines from this area of the valley typically do. There’s pleasing intensity, grace, balance, and sophistication to the flavors. A lengthy finish is the capstone. There’s not another wine quite like it in the Northwest …" —Sean Sullivan, Northwest Wine Report
"93+ Points, The 2021 La Rata presents a fresh, succulent and ripe nose, expressing floral and red-fruited notes. Medium to full-bodied, the palate showcases spiced cherry skin complemented by hints of dusty flowers, followed by potpourri and black cherry flavors mingling with dusty roses and turned earth nuances. With a long, lingering finish, this red blend exudes freshness and approachability, while also revealing delightful mineral tension and tannic structure, promising graceful aging until its 15th birthday." —Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate
"93 Points, Wild nose of strawberries, peppercorns, thyme, green tea, orange peel, wet stone and earth. It’s medium-bodied, lively, savory and mouthwatering, with stemmy tannins." —James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
